The Ceremony

We will be married at 1 pm at First Friends Meeting.  Directions to the ceremony location are here.

We have chosen the Quaker marriage ceremony for our wedding.  Our marriage will be under the care of Clear Creek Meeting, where Anna Margaret is a member (though the ceremony will be held at First Friends Meetinghouse).  Anna Margaret has been Quaker all her life; Emmanuel began attending Quaker Meeting in high school.

To learn more about Quakerism:

  • “Friends and Weddings” describes two unique aspects of Quaker weddings:  the period of silent worship and the invitation to everyone present to share blessings, prayers, or other messages during that time; and the signing of the marriage certificate.
  • Clear Creek Meeting’s website has information about the Meeting; the “About” page provides a good description of Quaker worship.
  • The BBC has put together a page of general information about Quaker beliefs, practices, and history.
